Who are you in Christ?

“This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!”

2 Corinthians 5:17 NLT

“My old identity has been co-crucified with Christ and no longer lives. And now the essence of this new life is no longer mine, for the Anointed One lives his life through me—we live in union as one! My new life is empowered by the faith of the Son of God who loves me so much that he gave himself for me, dispensing his life into mine!”

Galatians 2:20 TPT

“By living in God, love has been brought to its full expression in us so that we may fearlessly face the day of judgment, because all that Jesus now is, so are we in this world.”

1 John 4:17 TPT

ALL THAT JESUS NOW IS, SO ARE WE

WHO IS JESUS?

WHO SHOULD WE BE?

What does Christ mean?

Christ means the anointed one

Christians are followers of Christ and are Christ-like

You are the image of Christ and ultimately the image of God

To be Christ-like means to reflect the image and the personality of Christ

“He is the divine portrait, the true likeness of the invisible God, and the firstborn heir of all creation.”

Colossians 1:15 TPT

We carry the anointing that was upon Christ

Christ was anointed by God with Holy Ghost and power Acts 10:38 He is the anointed one so Christians are anointed ones too.

“However, you are not [living] in the flesh [controlled by the sinful nature] but in the Spirit, if in fact, the Spirit of God lives in you [directing and guiding you]. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him [and is not a child of God].”

Romans 8:9 AMP

You cannot claim to be a Christian without the anointing of the Holy Spirit. Christ said we will truly represent Him after the Holy Spirit has come upon us.

Anointing was what made Christ, so it is the Holy Spirit that can make us Christ-like or be true Christians.

We are reflections of Christ, the early Christians acted like Christ that people saw this and called them images of Christ - Christians.

Acting like Christ can only be possible by the spirit of God for when the Holy Spirit is in us, He brings forth fruits in us Galatians 5:22-23 and these fruits are what make us Christ-like. Without the Holy Spirit, we cannot be Christ-like and when we are neither Christ-like nor our lives reflect Christ, we cannot be said to be Christians

We have the mind of Christ

Christians have the mind of Christ 1 Cor 2:16

Christians must think like Christ, have access to the thoughts, intents and purposes of Christ which are revealed by the Holy Spirit.

“For Who has ever intimately known the mind of the Lord Yahweh well enough to become his counsellor? Christ has, and we possess Christ’s perceptions.”

1 Corinthians 2:16 TPT

This access enables us to continue to carry out God’s purpose as Christ did

We are Free men and women, so we have the same spirit of life flowing through Jesus

“So now the case is closed. There remains no accusing voice of condemnation against those who are joined in life-union with Jesus, the Anointed One. For the “law” of the Spirit of life flowing through the anointing of Jesus has liberated us from the “law” of sin and death.”

Romans 8:1-2 TPT

We are God’s workmanship and model pieces of work

“We have become his poetry, a re-created people that will fulfil the destiny he has given each of us, for we are joined to Jesus, the Anointed One. Even before we were born, God planned in advance our destiny and the good works we would do to fulfil it!”

Ephesians 2:10 TPT

We are Citizens and family members of the household of God

“So then you are no longer strangers and aliens [outsiders without rights of citizenship], but you are fellow citizens with the saints (God’s people), and are [members] of God’s household,”

Ephesians 2:19 AMP

“For in Him we live and move and exist [that is, in Him, we actually have our being], as even some of your own poets have said, ‘For we also are His children.’”

Acts 17:28 AMP

We are Siblings of Jesus, Jesus was set apart for God’s purpose so are we

“Both Jesus who sanctifies and those who are sanctified [that is, spiritually transformed, made holy, and set apart for God’s purpose] are all from one Father; for this reason, He is not ashamed to call them brothers and sisters,”

Hebrews 2:11 AMP

God is Jesus’s father and so is our father

“Jesus said to her, “Do not hold Me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father; but go to My brothers and tell them, ‘I am ascending to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God.’ ””

John 20:17 AMP

Christ is the Living Stone, the Chief Cornerstone. So we are living stones used to build the holy sanctuary of God

“So keep coming to him who is the Living Stone —though he was rejected and discarded by men but chosen by God and is priceless in God’s sight. Come and be his “living stones” who are continually being assembled into a sanctuary for God. For now, you serve as holy priests, offering up spiritual sacrifices that he readily accepts through Jesus Christ. For it says in Scripture: Look! I lay a cornerstone in Zion, a chosen and priceless stone! And whoever believes in him will certainly not be disappointed.”

1 Peter 2:4-6 TPT

“We are ambassadors of the Anointed One who carry the message of Christ to the world, as though God were tenderly pleading with them directly through our lips. So we tenderly plead with you on Christ’s behalf, “Turn back to God and be reconciled to him.””

2 Corinthians 5:20 TPT

Confessions

  • I belong to Jesus Christ and I am a new person in Him because my old identity has been co-crucified with Him

  • By the power of His Holy Spirit living in me, I have the priceless privilege and supreme advantage of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord more intimately

  • I am an ambassador of Christ Jesus and as He is so I am in this world

  • I have the Spirit of life flowing in Jesus also flowing in me because I am joined in life union with Jesus

  • I am a living stone fashioned after the similitude of my master Jesus who is the chief cornerstone

  • I will stay true to what I have already attained in Him and will yet attain by His grace in Jesus name. Amen
