For here is what the Lord has spoken to me: “Because you loved me, delighted in me, and have been loyal to my name,
I will greatly protect you.
I will answer your cry for help every time you pray,
and you will feel my presence in your time of trouble.
I will deliver you and bring you honour.
I will satisfy you with a full life and with all that I do for you.
For you will enjoy the fullness of my salvation!””
Psalms 91:14-16 TPT
This is the concluding part of our series on the currency of love
So far we have looked at the following areas in the series
⁃ What love is
⁃ Types of love
⁃ Shema
⁃ The greatest love
⁃ Characteristics of love
⁃ Demonstration of love - love in thought and love in deed
Now we are looking at the benefits of love
“The beautiful message you’ve heard right from the start is that we should walk in self-sacrificing love toward one another.”
1 John 3:11 TPT
“So these are his commands: that we continually place our trust in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and that we keep loving one another, just as he has commanded us. For all who obey his commands find their lives joined in union with him, and he lives and flourishes in them. We know and have proof that he constantly lives and flourishes in us, by the Spirit that he has given us.”
1 John 3:23-24 TPT
What do you get with the currency of love?
1. Loves delivers from death
“We know that we have passed over out of death into Life by the fact that we love the brethren (our fellow Christians). He who does not love abides (remains, is held and kept continually) in [spiritual] death.”
1 John 3:14 AMPC
Why because hatred and bitterness kill. Loveless life is a sinful life and sin leads to death
2. Love is failure-proof so when you love you are immune to failure 1 Cor 13:8, why? Because love is from God, God is love and when you have love you have God. So how can God be with you and you fail? God does not leave his lovers
3. True lover of God is indestructible Eph 3:19, “and [that you may come] to know [practically, through personal experience] the love of Christ which far surpasses [mere] knowledge [without experience], that you may be filled up [throughout your being] to all the fullness of God [so that you may have the richest experience of God’s presence in your lives, completely filled and flooded with God Himself].”
Ephesians 3:19 AMP
Once again love attracts the presence of God to our lives. Psalm 97:3 Fire goes before him and consumes his foes on every side. But the same fire protects all his own
Dan 3:25, 6:10-23, Rom 8:31, 28
4. Love provokes supernatural breakthroughs. How? Jesus says if you love me you will keep my commandments, and obeying the commandments leads to blessings you can’t even begin to understand Deut 28:1-2, “Now it shall be, if you diligently listen to and obey the voice of the LORD your God, being careful to do all of His commandments which I am commanding you today, the LORD your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth. All these blessings will come upon you and overtake you if you pay attention to the voice of the LORD your God.”
Deuteronomy 28:1-2 AMP
Rom 13:10,
5. Love empowers the believer to be dedicated to Christ and dedication brings us to the courtyard of God’s favour
“The person who loves his life and pampers himself will miss true life! But the one who detaches his life from this world and abandons himself to me, will find true life and enjoy it forever!
If you want to be my disciple, follow me and you will go where I am going. And if you truly follow me as my disciple, the Father will shower his favour upon your life.”
John 12:25-26 TPT
6. committed lovers of God are commanders of the supernatural. These are people like Job in Job 13:15, though he slays me yet I will trust in him
“For the [true] love of God is this: that we habitually keep His commandments and remain focused on His precepts. And His commandments and His precepts are not difficult [to obey].
For everyone born of God is victorious and overcomes the world, and this is the victory that has conquered and overcome the world—our [continuing, persistent] faith [in Jesus the Son of God].”
1 John 5:3-4 AMP
God is the supreme ruler and grand commander of the supernatural world. Loving Him brings you into the realm of the supernatural
7. Loving God gives you Health and vitality Prov 13:14, 17
“When the lovers of God teach you the truth, a fountain of life opens up within you, and their wise instruction will deliver you from the ways of death.
An undependable messenger causes a lot of trouble, but the trustworthy and wise messengers release healing wherever they go.”
Proverbs 13:14, 17 TPT
Lovers of God carry the fountain of life wherever they go
8.Lovers of God are openly decorated by God leading to a declaration from people who witness your reward Zechariah 8:23
“This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies says: In those days ten men from different nations and languages of the world will clutch at the sleeve of one Jew. And they will say, ‘Please let us walk with you, for we have heard that God is with you.’”
Zechariah 8:23 NLT
9. Love gives you access to divine secrets which make us stars which accelerates our maturity 1 Cor 2:9-10 lovers don’t hide secrets from each other Gen 18:17 God didn’t hide from Abraham what he was about to do
10. Love enhances deeper fellowship with God “I was overjoyed when they said, “Let’s go up to the house of the Lord.”
Psalms 122:1 TPT
This fellowship leads to true pleasures
“What pleasure fills those who live every day in your temple, enjoying you as they worship in your presence! Pause in his presence”
Psalms 84:4 TPT
Hear what David said further
“For just one day of intimacy with you is like a thousand days of joy rolled into one! I’d rather stand at the threshold in front of the Gate Beautiful, ready to go in and worship my God, than to live my life without you in the most beautiful palace of the wicked.”
Psalms 84:10 TPT
Read Psalm 16:11 and Obadiah 1:17
11. Lovers of God enjoy answers to prayers
“And we receive from Him whatever we ask because we [watchfully] obey His orders [observe His suggestions and injunctions, follow His plan for us] and [habitually] practise what is pleasing to Him. And this is His order (His command, His injunction): that we should believe in (put our faith and trust in and adhere to and rely on) the name of His Son Jesus Christ (the Messiah), and that we should love one another, just as He has commanded us.”
1 John 3:22-23 AMPC
Have you seen a true love who denies their lover what they ask for? At least they try within their capacity to satisfy their lovers, home much more our God our Elshaddai who is all-sufficient? He will supply
12. God makes you a star when you love what He loves, souls.
Daniel 12:3
Sources of love
A pure heart
A good conscience
Sincere faith
“But the goal of our instruction is love [which springs] from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith.”
1 Timothy 1:5 AMP
Constant fellowship with the Holy Spirit Gal 5:22
Remember all these benefits are for those who love God and follow His commandments.
Also, remember that love is demonstrated not hidden out of view. Love must be in deed not just in thought
God doesn’t need churchgoers, he wants us to be committed and dedicated to Him in love. This is to our benefits
So who are you?
Are you just a professing Christian or a committed lover of God?
If you have not yet fully embraced the love of God for you, you can’t love God, for the Bible says He loved us before we love him.
Can you give your life to this love?
Recommit and rededicate yourself to God
Father, I thank you for your unfailing love for me
I ask that you forgive me for all the times I've neglected and rejected your love.
I'm sorry for the time I've strayed away and gone my own way.
Wash me and make me whole again.
Lord, I ask that I will experience your love again.
Thank you for your constant love for me.
May I never stray from you again.
In Jesus name I pray.
