Spreading the Good News

“So then faith eliminates the distinction between Jew and non-Jew, for he is the same Lord for all people. And he has enough treasures to lavish generously upon all who call on him. And it’s true: “Everyone who calls on the Lord’s name will experience new life.” But how can people call on him for help if they’ve not yet believed? And how can they believe in one they’ve not yet heard of? And how can they hear the message of life if there is no one there to proclaim it? And how can the message be proclaimed if messengers have yet to be sent? That’s why the Scriptures say: How welcome is the arrival of those proclaiming the joyful news of peace and of good things to come!”

Romans 10:12-15 TPT

The Great Commission

“Then Jesus came close to them and said, “All authority of the universe has been given to me. Now wherever you go, make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. And teach them to faithfully follow all that I have commanded you. And never forget that I am with you every day, even to the completion of this age.”

Matthew 28:18-20 TPT

This instruction is repeated in Mark

“And He said to them, Go into all the world and preach and publish openly the good news (the Gospel) to every creature [of the whole human race].

He who believes [who adheres to and trusts in and relies on the Gospel and Him Whom it sets forth] and is baptized will be saved [from the penalty of eternal death]; but he who does not believe [who does not adhere to and trust in and rely on the Gospel and Him Whom it sets forth] will be condemned.

And these attesting signs will accompany those who believe: in My name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new languages; They will pick up serpents; and [even] if they drink anything deadly, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will get well.”

Mark 16:15-18 AMPC

Also repeated in Luke

“Now you must go into all the nations and preach repentance and forgiveness of sins so that they will turn to me.

Start right here in Jerusalem, for you are my witnesses and have seen for yourselves all that has transpired.”

Luke 24:47-48 TPT

Prior to all these, our Lord Jesus Christ has sent out the 70 in twos with clear instructions on the good news. This is found in the account of Luke in chapter 10

We are commissioned to reconcile men back to God

“Now, if anyone is enfolded into Christ, he has become an entirely new person. All that is related to the old order has vanished. Behold, everything is fresh and new.

And God has made all things new, and reconciled us to himself, and given us the ministry of reconciling others to God.

In other words, it was through the Anointed One that God was shepherding the world, not even keeping records of their transgressions, and he has entrusted to us the ministry of opening the door of reconciliation to God.

We are ambassadors of the Anointed One who carry the message of Christ to the world, as though God were tenderly pleading with them directly through our lips. So we tenderly plead with you on Christ’s behalf, “Turn back to God and be reconciled to him

” For God made the only one who did not know sin to become sin for us so that we might become the righteousness of God through our union with him.”

2 Corinthians 5:17-21 TPT

The Foundation of Good News

“For God made the only one who did not know sin to become sin for us, so that we might become the righteousness of God through our union with him.”

2 Corinthians 5:21 TPT

What is the Good News?

“He said to them, “There is a large harvest, but few workers to gather it in. Pray to the owner of the harvest that he will send out workers to gather in his harvest.

Go! I am sending you like lambs among wolves.

Don't take a purse or a beggar's bag or shoes; don't stop to greet anyone on the road. Whenever you go into a house, first say, ‘Peace be with this house.’

heal the sick in that town, and say to the people there, ‘The Kingdom of God has come near you.’”

Luke 10:2-5, 9 GNT

The kingdom of God has come is the only message

So what good news has the kingdom brought to us?

This is found in Isaiah 61:1-3, which is reiterated by Jesus in Luke 4:18-19

The Good news version of the Bible has enumerated the contents of the good news we bear with simplicity.

“The Sovereign Lord has filled me with His Spirit. He has chosen me and sent me To bring good news to the poor, To heal the broken-hearted, To announce release to captives And freedom to those in prison. He has sent me to proclaim That the time has come When the Lord will save his people And defeat their enemies. He has sent me to comfort all who mourn, To give to those who mourn in Zion Joy and gladness instead of grief, A song of praise instead of sorrow. They will be like trees That the Lord himself has planted. They will all do what is right, And God will be praised for what he has done.”

Isaiah 61:1-3 GNT

As the Father sent Him so He sent us to share the same good news

“Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father sent me, so I send you.”

John 20:21 GNT

So the good news of the kingdom of God is this

“The Sovereign Lord has filled you with His Spirit.

To bring good news to the poor: - you need to identify the poor the Lord has sent you to

To heal the broken-hearted,

To announce release to captives

And freedom to those in prison.

He has sent you to proclaim that the time has come when the Lord will save his people and defeat their enemies.

He has sent you to comfort all who mourn,

To give to those who mourn in Zion Joy and gladness instead of grief, A song of praise instead of sorrow.

To say to them that they will be like trees that the Lord himself has planted.

They will all do what is right,

And God will be praised for what he has done in their lives.”

Isaiah 61:1-3 GNT

Other phrases for good News

God Loves you. He does not want you to perish

“For God so [greatly] loved and dearly prized the world, that He [even] gave His [One and] only begotten Son, so that whoever believes and trusts in Him [as Savior] shall not perish, but have eternal life.”

John 3:16 AMP

No condemnation for you for God does not condemn you but wants you to come to Him

“For God did not send the Son into the world to judge and condemn the world [that is, to initiate the final judgment of the world], but that the world might be saved through Him. Whoever believes and has decided to trust in Him [as personal Savior and Lord] is not judged [for this one, there is no judgment, no rejection, no condemnation]; but the one who does not believe [and has decided to reject Him as personal Savior and Lord] is judged already [that one has been convicted and sentenced], because he has not believed and trusted in the name of the [One and] only begotten Son of God [the One who is truly unique, the only One of His kind, the One who alone can save him].”

John 3:17-18 AMP

Repentance and forgiveness

“Now you must go into all the nations and preach repentance and forgiveness of sins so that they will turn to me.

Start right here in Jerusalem, for you are my witnesses and have seen for yourselves all that has transpired.”

Luke 24:47-48 TPT

Reconciliation: God wants to make you His friend

“All this is done by God, who through Christ changed us from enemies into his friends and gave us the task of making others his friends also. Our message is that God was making all human beings his friends through Christ. God did not keep an account of their sins, and he has given us the message which tells how he makes them his friends.”

2 Corinthians 5:18-19 GNT

Good news is not good news if nobody hears about it

In Luke 24:49 Jesus asked us to wait for the promise of the Holy Spirit

In Acts 1:8 He said we shall receive power after the Holy Ghost has come upon us and we shall be His witnesses, His ambassadors, representing Him everywhere we go.

Sometimes we lack the boldness to witness to people. we are timid and fearful because of the threats around us.

Let us pray for the enduement from above, fresh power to witness

“With great power, the apostles gave witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and God poured rich blessings on them all.”

Acts 4:33 GNT

Lord pour out your spirit afresh upon us
