Not all services are acceptable to God. Lets explore the types that are abhorrent to God..
⁃ Lip Service
“And the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near Me with their mouth and honor Me with their lips but remove their hearts and minds far from Me, and their fear and reverence for Me are a commandment of men that is learned by repetition [without any thought as to the meaning],”
Isaiah 29:13 AMPC
The parable of the two sons Matthew 21:28-32
⁃ Eye service
“Not in the way of eye-service [as if they were watching you] and only to please men, but as servants (slaves) of Christ, doing the will of God heartily and with your whole soul;”
Ephesians 6:6 AMPC, Col 3:22
Matt 6:1
Be careful not to do your "acts of righteousness" before men, to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.
Galatians 1:10
Am I now seeking the approval of men, or of God? Or am I striving to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ.
3. Self service like belly service
“For those who are such do not serve our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly, and by smooth words and flattering speech deceive the hearts of the simple.”
Romans 16:18 NKJV
“whose fate is destruction, whose god is their belly [their worldly appetite, their sensuality, their vanity], and whose glory is in their shame—who focus their mind on earthly and temporal things.”
Philippians 3:19 AMP
4. Service as if you are doing the people or the leader a favour
“God has given me grace to speak a warning about pride. I would ask each of you to be emptied of self-promotion and not create a false image of your importance. Instead, honestly assess your worth by using your God-given faith as the standard of measurement, and then you will see your true value with an appropriate self-esteem.”
Romans 12:3 TPT
“We don’t preach ourselves, but rather the lordship of Jesus Christ, for we are your servants for Jesus’ sake.”
2 Corinthians 4:5 TPT
These types of service do not come from the heart and God sees the heart
“When they had come, he looked on Eliab [the eldest son] and said, Surely the Lord's anointed is before Him. But the Lord said to Samuel, Look not on his appearance or at the height of his stature, for I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees; for man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.”
1 Samuel 16:6-7 AMPC
